2015 Quinta do Pessegueiro
Quinta do Pessegueiro
"The Douro is a land that man married to the vine more than two thousand years ago. It has produced the ancestral Porto and the finest Douro wines.
Its land, which is composed of schist and slate burnt by a sun that can reach 38°C, gives the local cultivars their ever so distinctive characteristics. The variations in altitude and orientation of the terraces (socalcos or patamares) shaped by gems of peasant engineering give the tannic or fruity tendencies of the nectar produced.
To produce wines of a unique character, we capitalize to the maximum on the magnificent land of the Upper Douro and maintain the plethora of cultivars, some of which are endemic to this valley. To give their exceptional fruit, the vines must plunge their roots as deep as possible through the cracks of the schist and slate in search of the groundwater table, and find one of the most balanced water supplies.
The 2015 Quinta do Pessegueiro made from old vine Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca is full of ripe black fruits, this wine from the vineyards on the south bank of the Douro, is rich and full in the mouth. Fermented in open lagars, the wine has the typical rich juiciness and rounded tannins that this type of fermentation produces. Perfect for a Sunday roast or nice cut of steak like a ribeye.
Available in 6-pack from Lusocape for $49.95 per bottle.
